Aims & Objectives
Wais Care Ltd exists to provide safe, reliable, and dignified transport for pupils with special educational needs. Everything we do is driven by four core commitments.
-
Travelling to and from school
Providing safe, dependable transport for SEN pupils on their daily school journeys — every morning and every afternoon, without exception.
-
Keeping active and connected with community
Supporting disabled and SEN children to stay engaged with their school, friends, and community — because social connection is as important as the journey itself.
-
Staying safe
Disabled school children should feel confident using Wais Care transport. Our vehicles, drivers, and procedures are all designed to ensure every child is secure throughout their journey.
-
Being informed
Customers, parents, and disabled passengers have access to clear, timely information about their transport services — so they always know what to expect.

We adhere to strict safety protocols, maintain open communication channels with families and schools, and strive to create a positive and supportive experience for all passengers.
Children with Special Educational Needs
Disabled and special needs children reflect the diversity of the general population but, because of their situation, have different travel and mobility needs and aspirations to other age groups. Their needs may vary depending on their age, health, lifestyle, residential location, and stage of life.
Wais Care Ltd acknowledges the special role the transport sector plays in strengthening communities — particularly for people with special needs. We recognise that access to reliable, appropriate transport is not just a convenience but a fundamental enabler of education and independence.
Our drivers are trained to understand and respond appropriately to the diverse range of physical, sensory, cognitive, and intellectual disabilities our passengers may have. No two journeys — and no two children — are the same, and we treat each one accordingly.
Our Safeguarding Approach
All our drivers are professionally licensed by Transport for London (TFL). Our comprehensive safeguarding policy ensures the safety, well-being, and equal access to education for every disabled child in our care. It covers the following six key areas:
-
1
Inclusive Approach
Our policy accounts for the full diversity of disabilities — physical, sensory, cognitive, and intellectual. We are sensitive to individual needs and take into account the specific challenges each disabled child may face during their journey.
-
2
Risk Assessment
We conduct thorough risk assessments of the routes disabled children take to school. Potential hazards — road crossings, uneven pavements, traffic congestion — are identified and mitigated to ensure every route is safe and accessible.
-
3
Personalised Support
We provide individualised support for disabled children based on their specific needs. This can include assigning support staff — such as special education assistants or mobility aides — to accompany children during their commute. All support staff are trained in disability awareness and emergency procedures.
-
4
Communication & Information Sharing
We establish clear lines of communication between parents and guardians, school staff, transport providers, and any external organisations involved in a child's transportation. We regularly share relevant information about each child's needs, preferences, and medical considerations.
-
5
Transportation Arrangements
Our vehicles are equipped with the necessary accommodations: ramps, lifts, secure seating, and appropriate restraints. Regular maintenance and safety checks are carried out to ensure vehicles remain in full working order at all times.
-
6
Emergency Preparedness
We have established protocols for handling emergencies during transit — including medical emergencies, accidents, and unexpected disruptions. All staff are trained in emergency response and aware of each child's individual medical considerations. Our training also covers awareness of child sexual exploitation (CSE) and disability equality.
How We Hold Ourselves Accountable
Every policy we hold exists to protect children, support drivers, and give families complete confidence in our service.
Enhanced CRB / DBS Check
Every driver and anyone in contact with vulnerable children holds an Enhanced CRB/DBS certificate. We perform criminal and traffic history checks on all drivers. Our team always follows all transport laws set by local regulators in London.
Disability Awareness Training
All our drivers undergo recognised disability awareness training as a condition of working with us. This empowers them to meet the needs and rights of disabled passengers — and challenges practices such as refusing rides or unsafe assistance. Complaints procedures are accessible to all users.
PCO & TFL Licensing
All drivers hold a PCO licence and are fully licensed by Transport for London. They have passed police checks and hold good character references. This ensures the vehicle is of an appropriate standard and the driver is competent and reliable on every journey.
Monitoring & Complaints
Wais Care Ltd operates a robust system for recording complaints, including analysing trends across the whole service and complaints against individual drivers. All complaints are taken seriously — drivers with repeated concerns are contacted and, where appropriate, reported to the council or police.
Anti-Slavery Policy
Wais Care Ltd has clear responsibilities towards our drivers and ensures that no driver works excessive hours. We are committed to fair treatment and legal working conditions for all staff at every level of the organisation.
Equal Opportunity Employer
Wais Care Ltd celebrates the diversity of society. We are positively committed to challenging direct and indirect unfair discrimination on the grounds of gender, race, colour, ethnic origin, disability, age, religion, marital status, or sexual identity. This commitment is reflected in everything we do, including how we employ and manage staff.
Baby & Child Seats
Wais Care Ltd provides high-quality, safe, and reliable child seats for families travelling with newborns, infants, and toddlers. There are no passenger age restrictions for our rides.
We know that young children can get restless on longer trips. Our team of professionally trained drivers are patient, trustworthy, and polite — doing everything they can to make the journey as comfortable and stress-free as possible for children and their families.
Whether you're travelling with a baby, toddler, or older child, we treat every family with the same care and attention. Your child's comfort and safety on the road is our priority from the moment we pick them up to the moment they arrive.
Booking & Cancellation
Wais Care Ltd offers a straightforward and fair booking policy designed around the needs of families.
Free cancellation: You can cancel free of charge within a 2–5 minute grace period after booking.
Cancellation fee: If you cancel after this short window but before the driver arrives, a small cancellation fee may apply. This compensates the driver for their time and fuel spent travelling to you.
You will always be notified if a fee applies before you confirm your cancellation. For any questions about your booking, please contact us directly — we are happy to help.
Driver Vacancies
We are always looking for reliable, professional, PCO licensed drivers to join us on a full-time or part-time basis transporting vulnerable children to and from school. You can use your own PHV licensed vehicle or a rented car with PCO. Some runs include a Passenger Assistant (PA) and some do not.
